.YESYESYES!!!!

Topday I found my 7.2v NiCd battery sitting on my record player. So I decided to take kurt's advice and try batteries. I turned on the scren, shined a flashlight behind the screen, and pressed the volume button. The volume bar was green. good old beautiful green. Not goth dark purple. So that means the screen works. good. Now I need to get RGB hooked back up, as I bet that problem will be fixed now too. Yay, this is not dead.

Oh, and Drue, I am sorry, but you are not getting the screen now

Well, what a load of SH*T!

I hooked up the fc twinto the ps1 screen using RGB, powered it off of the screen's 7805, and I am getting the same f*cking RGB problems as before, except this time the colors are not inverted. And YES I have sync connected. Now I am going to have to find composite using the snes half, since it is not listed on the pinout in the sticky. I give up on using RGB. I'm perfectly happy with composite.

I did the math, and I have spent $231 on this. $105 was spent on things that broke. Less than I thought, but this includes about 80 hours of pointless work.

This is driving me crazy. I am becoming insane. Quite literally. It makes me hateful. Pain, rage and depression, all biulding up on the inside. It's driving me mad. For awhile, when i couldn';t get the screen to work, I started screaming swear words at the top of my lungs, while chucking dead pcbs at the walls of my pole barn. I felt the need to destroy. Then, I got away from the project. For about a week in fact. But The project taunted me daily. Each time I walked through my room, the screen, laying on that cardboard box, was staring at me. It was mocking me. Mocking me for not being able to put a use to it, and for spending so much for it. When I crawled into my bed at night, The screen was there, almost smirking it seemed. The sad thoughts of the failing project drained into my sleep. And were carried with me to school the next day. I didn't know what to do. Should I have cried? laughed? or have shone no emotion at all. I just don't know. Now I get the screen to work. Joy spreads through me. Pushing everything else out. Now, I hook up the screen to fctwin, and bam! the same rgb problems as before. I think I need to go away. To leave the forums. And quit electronics. But I don't know what I'll do. I don't know what i even did before I found benheck a year ago. I just don't know what to do. Electronics is my love, my passion, and expression. If I take that away, I don't know what I even have left. Perhaps I should just go to a shrink. But those cost money. Money that I blew on this project.

If I do leave, don't worry. I will still talk to my friends on here like Eurddrue, or Tibia. And Tib, don't worry, I will not forget to continue to PM you about the atari.

I "didn't give up" enought times in this project. I unless I can magically trade my fctwin for a retro duo, I say let this thing be damned to hell for eternity. I need a retro duo, because they output composite, and I think you need all three boards on fctwin for composite.

I do. just not the will. I have great ideas. lots of them. I want to complete all of them, all the projects, but am afraid. Afraid to spend money on something that won't work. Maybe I will sell some of my third party snes controllers for spare coin.

I hear you... I knew almost nothing of circuitry and all of this was new to me a year ago. A year later things are coming along with problem after problem. Currently im trying to power the screen off of batteries and ill have the basics of the system made... I'm not sure if i will go with the RGB mod or not. I'm an idiot and use 18 gauge wire which is hard to solder to small things. But NEVER GIVE UP!!!! i had a SNES board that i thought was fried only after i bought another one and thinking i fried the second one i find that they both work... BUT NEVER EVER EVER EVER GIVE UP!!!! Ill just make 2 SNESp's now

Do it. Finish the portable. I feel like a loser for abandoning the YAP64.

Well, today, I hooked back up both boards to the snes half of the twin, only to find that the thing had fried when sitting on my dresser. Well, that's it. I quit. unless somebody like stoneagegamer puts up more retro duos this is dead.
