If you were to wire both in parallel both would work fine. The controller pak slot is just an address/data bus that's usually wired straight to some SRAM (32kbyte). The rumble pak is triggered by writes to a certain address that's latched by hardware so they should both work at the same time. There are combined rumble pak/controller paks made by third parties.

I don't intend to include a rumble pack, though I am wondering how many of you would integrate one inside of your portabel rather than on the outside?

Thank you! I've been trying to figure out where I got that one from. lol At one point I was planning on using it in a portable, but I've got a lot of other projects to finish before I have the time and money to make an N64p.

And Neverused, to answer your question, when I eventually do get around to building my N64p, I will have both the rumble pack and a slot for a memory card, since I want to keep my memory card external. I'm planning on being able to switch the rumble off to preserve battery life, so I may use a three position switch. (rumble-off-mem port)

I think VGC has some rumble memory packs, but it might have been eStarland.
