Sega wasting their hardware

Post by Unidentified Assilant »

Today, my little brother got this dumb little Sonic LCD game, so, being me, decided to take a look at the innards, and it shocked me to find the assembly looked scarily similar to a VMU, why are sega wasting their time like this? They could be making money! Not Happy Meal toys for MacDonalds!

At least you got a Sonic game! My sister got some crappy "Billy Hatcher's Giant Egg" thing. At least it has a piezzo buzzer, switches, and a battery in it! There's no shortage of switches and LEDs since electronic Happy Meal toys came around!

They suck, and if Sega are making these, they suck too, they should be releasing another console, or doing another Streets Of Rage game (why don't they do it? Everyone wants a new one)

Activision made similar stuff for Burger King last month. If you ask me, all those crappy "video games" are nothing more than game-and-watch games in a handheld case.

Maybe I could pick up another one and make it into a watch game, just to see if I can.

Look Sega made the desision back in 2000 that they couldnt hack in the console/hardware division of gaming. So they fell back on the thing that made them great for years and thats the games.

Sega isnt going to risk millions of dollars to bring out a new console, and for the little games that are at McD's. They ordered those from Sega so they dont have to worry about having a large shippment to get rid of.

As for the VMU its wasnt necessarily advanced anyways. The damn thing was nothing more then a little gimeck that played 8bit games from the saves you made from certain games.

I highly doubt sega even made the little games. Its very probably made by a third party company liscensing the Sega name and the name of the games.

Possibly Sammy them, it's just that Sega's name was on them so...
