I'm risking outing myself as a Doomfag, but Doom has GOT to be one of the most played games ever. Problem is, you can't track it, as you don't actually have to subscribe to anything to play it.

It sure takes the cake for having the most sound effects ripped off in cartoons and movies - I don't know how many times I've heard the rocket launch or imp-death effect in some random low-budget cartoon.

Aww....did you have to use Godot? Couldn't you have used Payne?

That was pretty epic though!

I'd believe that WoW is the most consistently played game right now.

I meannn, Every time a AAA game is released, I would imagine that is the most played game and WoW would be knocked down off the top. Like when Halo 3 first came out, I think majority of gamers played that a lot.

But then you could also argue that WoW is best because you get the most bang for your buck. Think about how much money they're saving playing WoW. If they played that many hours with other games, they'd be spending a lot more buying game after game. WoW has some kind of fun factor that a lot of people don't get sick of for a looong time.
