Too long; didn't read.

The twitter thing is because you're blogging.

I was discussing plans for a portablizing project; blogging is more to do with what you ate for breakfast or whatever, and doesn't encourage views from others but more of a reference to what you do in day-to-day stuff compared to other people (that's my understanding anyway). If that is correct, then no blogging was here and therefore the reference to "twitter" is not justified! Have a go at the spam posts, at least my posts are relevant! :D - BTW - this is Forum 42...

Bacteria, I think a modding blog would actually suit your update style better than your site.

Actually, might do. Having issues with my provider; can't save my website anymore, so if the host loses stuff again, I lose a lot of data. Blog sites are free, like Google's one: which one would be best "for my needs" - then I can use that and ditch my provider in the coming months when it comes up for renewal. I need a News section and facility to update logs with pics in sections - not a continuous stream of logs but into sections. Ideas for good sites?

Thinking about it, I don't need to update a long WIP (which takes ages as the document gets longer), I think what I will do is to save my completed projects, each as a PDF, rather than mountain of pics that take ages to load. This means only upping final works and guides, but that isn't an issue.

Two reasons to post in this two week old thread:

1) Thanks to the input, I am using Wordpress, and very happy with it; does what I want.

2) More relevant - Although I have been talking about a version 2 multi-platform system, I decided against it in the end. I can get it to work, got it all worked out; however, decided it wasn't feasible in a small case, needed to work in a large setup. I was going to have to end up with an overly thick system or be forced to not use batteries at all (not an option) also the front of the case was going to have to be cluttered with buttons which would look bad, and not generically labeled, which is another problem; also there would be lost space in the case front but over cramming into the case back; not ideal.

Too many compromises in the end. I also forgot one problem I encountered in my original project - having to have the joysticks rotatable due to the different orientation of controllers for different systems - that sealed the coffin on the idea.

So, no more multi-system, rather than separate and dedicated handheld systems - which, let's face it, are practical!

Better to make the decision now than later!

At the end of the day, if the end result isn't going to live to expectations, no point doing it. Having lots of buttons over a case front would look cluttered, better to make everything specific for the system.

I have plenty of screens, so not an issue.

All my systems will be red and black (apart from buttons), rather a nice colour scheme!

Actually, magnets are only harmful to magnetic storage media, like hard drives, floppies, tapes... (And of course to CRT screen) but not electronic components in general.
Well, as long as they aren't moving (in relation to the wires and what-not) since change in flux can change currents. Probably shouldn't be a problem since they should be stationary, though.
Very late reply...
Even so you'd need a pretty damn strong magnet to actually make a difference. An electromagnet fed with AC... That's a different story.
