Re: My retro duo snesp EDIT: INVERTED COLORS!?!
what the hell? Ok, I have bad bad problems. first of all, i hooked up RGB and sync from the fctwin to the screen. It was correctly hooked up, but when I turned it on, there was a white bar scrolling down the screen, all the colors were flashy, the picture was wavy, so imagine being on drugs and playing the game. That is what it would look like. I thought I didn't have sync connected, so I unconnected the sync wire to see if it affected the picture. This just made a bunch of white jagged angry looking lines all over. I then hooked sync back up, and connected a 220 uf cap. on the R, G, and B lines, as I heard that some systems need a 220 uf cap. to get good RGB. This did nothing. So I decide to see if composite works. I disconnected the fctwin, hooked up my n64 with mario and turn it on. Everything is inverted. Istead of looking like a happy, fat plumber, mario now looks like a dark satanic worshiper. I can not figure out why the colors are invered. I checked all the connections several time, to see if anything was touching, but according to the zenith screen pinout in the screen forum, all was properly hooked up.
Now I am just completely baffled. How can everything become inverded like this? I do not want to play my games with reversed colors.

Bump. I raelly need some help with this. I have spent way too much on this project, and I am not buying a new screen. If I can't find help, I am giving up on this completely.

Re: My retro duo snesp EDIT: INVERTED COLORS!?!
When you were using RGB, were the colors inverted as well, aside from the bar and wavyness? Just to be sure nothing else is wrong here, I'd try another screen.

well, there's a funny thing about the RGB. Wherever the white bar was, you could see video picture for that part of the screen. It was not inverted. No, I do not have another screen to test on.

What about a TV? Try ghetto rigging your duo up to it, and see if the colors are inverted on it. That way we can figure out what your problem is.

On the pinout, composite is not listed on the snes side. I don't know which pin composite is.

oh, well, your n64 is inverted too right? Try using that on a tv.themadhacker wrote:On the pinout, composite is not listed on the snes side. I don't know which pin composite is.

I play that all the time. There is nothing wrong with it ( That I am aware of).

Has any solder been dripped on it? If so check the general area of the drip. If that's not the problem, see if somethings shorting out on your table. If not, see if you accidently scraped a trace. Check if your screen is touching the grounding pads. Did you do the LED mod?

No LED mod yet, and I will have to look for solder drips.

Re: My retro duo snesp EDIT: INVERTED COLORS!?!
One time I was trouble shooting my n64p, and I was driving myself crazy trying to get it to work. Everything was wired right, both the screen and system loaded, everything went fine, but it wouldn't load a game. Turns out pin 1 and 2 on the RCP were being touched together by a tiny tiny particle from a solder drip.themadhacker wrote:No LED mod yet, and I will have to look for solder drips.

I know everything is connected correctly, so I will have to search right now for drips.

Re: My retro duo snesp EDIT: INVERTED COLORS!?!
Do you specifically remember dripping solder on it? If so, check the general area of the drip. Other than that, I know nothing about the retro duo/fc twin. Sometimes my screen doesn't work when it's not touching the ground spots.

By another screen, I mean even just a TV. Try that.

@ eurddrue. I have no memory of dripping solder. I tried the n64 with the same results. Then I hooked it to my baement TV with perfect picture.
@ bibin. I will try that tomorrow. Maybe I will test RGB with my genesis. So if the genesis works, then I can narrow the RGB problems down to the fc twin.
