from what I have read you can use a portable DVD player screen as long as the unit has an audio/video input and you keep the screen and motherboard intact in the portable. My question is this, can the motherboard of the portable dvd player be conected to a larger digital lcd (laptop, computer monitor, etc)? I currently have an old pentium laptop and one of these dvd players. Rather than portablize i am hoping to install the dvd internals into the laptop case using half the case for the player and the other half for storage on road trips.
Obviously I could accomplish the same task with a newer laptop that had a dvd drive installed in it, but I own all this stuff and its basically useless to me as it sits

short answer: no
long answer: no, because integrated electronics all use different signal types for their screens, and you cant get the pinouts, so even if your dvd player and laptop screen used the same signal, you couldnt feasibly connect the two.
