NEs portables are getting better

The new FC Mobile looks like it's going to be a big hit. With wireless controllers, TV out and a wireless Zapper...I dunno, it'll be tough to beat? What do you guys think?

Re: NEs portables are getting better
It's an FC Mobile with proprietary add-ons aimed at people without consoles. WTF is with that button layout? I hated the backwards a/b on the original, now they've gone and rotated them? Why does everyone think that the TV out on the FC2 is new? It's not. The original had it.
Having owned one of the first ones and seeing that they're not addressing any of its weaknesses, I've got no interest in an FC2. All the failures of the first one with a gimmick add-on. No thanks.
EDIT: How many threads have we had for this already? I think this is something like the third or fourth.

It's the FC MOBILE 2! Sorry for caps but it's completly diffrent. It looks different, and comes wqith wireless acc. Who knows how many people here could use a wireless NES controller or Zapper. And if the price is right you get an already made portable you can make betetr by hacking it up the way you want.Tibia wrote:It's an FC Mobile with proprietary add-ons aimed at people without consoles. It's not different. It's an FC mobile with the buttons mixed up and a wireless receiver. For the $60, you can get a BETTER NOAC that isn't so finicky, and a very nice screen. As for the controllers, they're proprietary. They're only going to work with that glitchy little piece of trash.

Re: NEs portables are getting better
i was reading a thread about it that had the people involved in making it in it. I do agree that the button layout is odd but people seem to think its not bad to use, just different. some of the issues you are talking about have been revised and aparently its a lot better NOAC and screen this time around.

Re: NEs portables are getting better
I've seen that thread a few times myself. The guy sells them, he's not involved in making them. He's got the lowest price I've seen for pre-orders, but I'd rather buy better parts and do it myself. I've seen several different posts saying it's the same screen as the first one, but I haven't seen any part numbers posted, so I can't verify.
Also, that light gun doesn't work on the unit itself, despite what a lot of people think. It's still only CRT compatible.

Re: NEs portables are getting better
well he was somewhat involved with the manufactures, at least so far as to be in regular contact with them and giving them some input. regardless they would be a good thing as a base for modification as they cost 60$ and the parts to build a roughly equal NOAC portable would be more like 100-130$

Re: NEs portables are getting better
Only if you want the mixed up wireless controllers. Otherwise, there are NOACs with cart slots and excellent compatibilty that don't have half the glitching and color/sound errors of the FCMobile for $10-15. That leaves you $45-50 for your screen, and the DE ones are slightly larger in size, without running that much.
Bottom line- it's great for people who want the wireless capability and don't care about button layout. As for "getting better"? No. It's the same trash with wireless capability. That doesn't necessarily mean better.
