Help with PSone Screen.

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Post by Shadowfangs »

I have a PS1 screen, I've had it for a while, But Two of the components on the screen fell off, I havent tried to hook it up since, so i dont know if they affect the actuall operation to the screen. so here are my two questions...

What is it?
Where can i get a replacement?

Ok, im kinda stupid. Google helped me figure out part of my delima. Its a capacitor... but Could i just use a regular cap in place of this? If i find a 6.3v 220Uf cap can I just solder it in place and everything work like it was before i broke it? lol

I think just about any 220uf cap will do, as long as its rated for more than the original one.

So The only thing Radioshack had was 35wvdc 220uf Caps I got two of em just in case i can use them. Anyone know if this will be ok? I imagine the 35wvdc means that it can take a maximum of 35 volts and watts before it has isssues... right?

Just wanted to let you all know, The proposed fix works. So if you ever knock your little 220uf 6.3v surface mount caps off you can use a 220uf cap of the same voltage or higher.

That capacitor doesn’t even matter. You can just leave it off unless you want to use c-sync out in some way (which I doubt). And before any of you shoot me down I know this for a fact because I took it off when I removed the bottom section of my board.

Ok, if that one doesnt matter, what about the one on the left side of the screen?

I am not sure about that one. I am not in a position to check its placement right now, but my money is on since its part of the boards inner circuitry if you will, it matters.

So I hacked my snes apart and have been plugging wires every which space and such, and got a "hack job" video of my setup so far.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I2-JR_CEtY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is it just me or is the screen kinda off color? I think it might be how long the video wire is, its just wires outta the cat5 cable I dissasembled. Any thoughts?
