Anyone know where I could find this?

Post by ghosstt »

Well, I'm looking for a guitar body that I could use in a custom guitar. I know there are sites that sell guitar bodies, but I have yet to find out that sells hollow body guitars. Particularly, the ES-335 body type. Does anyone know of a place that sells them?

Ya. Been there. They don't sell what I'm looking for. They sell chambered bodies, but I'm looking for semi-acoustic bodies. like this:

Hah. I thought you were just trying to minimize the sheer weight of them!

You might just have to suck it up and buy a real one from Gibson.

Well, I really just want to get one so I can do a custom paint/coat on it. I was thinking of racing type stripes down the middle, with a logo at the bottom, but staining the guitar, not painting it. I'd need a fresh body for that though.

Not necessarily. If you're careful, you can sand the paint/gloss off of an exiting body.

If you want a body cheaper than a Gibson, Yamaha do a lovely replica of it. Got one myself and I think it sounds better then the Gibsons.

Hmm. I was thinking about that, but could you actually get down to the wood's grain, and keep it look nice?

I never thought of that. That could be really sweet.

Yes, but unless you're accurate to within the micrometer, you'll probably sand off some of the original wood underneath. It's not impossible, I've seen it done. But I wouldn't place it first on my list of options, it can prove difficult.

Ghosstt, if your interested in doing these kinds of things, you should definitely check out this webpage for information. I used to be a part of it, but sadly I hardly frequent there anymore.
