Nintendo 64 with vga / dvi
It feels like I want to mod one of my N64 to have a VGA or a DVI output so I can use it on my computer screen, any tips how I can do it? Oh, and then I want a 3.5mm output aswell.

As backwards as it sounds, dvi has contains anolog signals (this is why you can get those adapters that change the dvi output to vga)Kyo wrote:dvi - impossible. VGA - only with a model that can be modded to give RGB.
you'd need a scan doubler, still

Ive heard the quality of some cheap boxes is less than optimal.marshallh wrote:The n64 and all other consoles will output 15KHz RGB. A VGA signal is 31KHz. Not gonna work, you need a scan doubler.
You can buy S-video > VGA boxes for $50-60. Check play-asia.com

Re: Nintendo 64 with vga / dvi
So if you have an early-model N64 that you can RGB-mod, you can buy something like this to get a VGA signal (and thus, a VGA out port)?
And with one of those S-video to Component cables, you could have component out (of course, at S-video quality), right?

You would be better off using an 'external line doubler' than trying to build a circuit board with that chip to incorporate inside the N64. At least you can use an external line doubler with other consoles aswell - although the choice is yours.eagle5953 wrote:So if you have an early-model N64 that you can RGB-mod, you can buy something like this to get a VGA signal (and thus, a VGA out port)?

Also, that cable looks to be just a straight though S-Video<->Component cable included with Graphics cards etc. It doesnt do any conversion at all, so I doubt it would work with the N64.
