Remember when PSone screens were cheap and available?

Post by Gamelver »

Man, portablizing in general was great then. I think overall we're seeing better portables today, but back when it was fresh....hot damn! It's still awesome today, though, of course...but you really can't beat cheap ass screens, when not as many people knew about them ;)

So, if you remember when you could get a psone screen for $30 or some other ridiculously awesome price, comment on how just how great those times were (or how you wish you were around then :P)! Let's not mention the present (as in: :( times) in this thread too much, it gets me down. The past was fun, so those of you with good screens and systems available (or the funds to purchase them) cherish them!

You hold a part of benheck(endorn ;)) and portablizing history!

Also, I lived with my parents then, and they gave me money! Now they don't like giving me much money :(...copulate college

P.S. I love portablizing, and am here to stay everyone...just reminiscing about the ol' days, the first couple/few years of these forums (and my days during the end of the original one, hehe)...good times, and those memories have rekindled my love for this stuff. I'm back for good, baby! well, at least until next year...junior year....can't wait...

P.S.S. I still have a freaking GCp practically made if anyone wants it :P. PM me if you're interested, otherwise enjoy the thread!
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

The PSone screen is awesome. I posted about this before, but I scored one at Play 'N' Trade last month along with the PSone itself, two DualShock controllers, three novelty memory cards, power and composite video cables, and a carrying case, for a total of something like $40.

Hot damn, I love Play 'N' Trade.

I remember how a long time ago I passed by an N64, even though I wanted one and it was only $30. You could get games too, even new games. Oh the games I missed in my childhood. Playing Doom instead of Goldeneye or Zelda. Wait, I still am playing PC games. There's no 360 in site. Oh well.

Only kinda related but I thought I would post anyway.

I had the fricken ugly as copulate one that is a huge brick, and all of my cousins did too, but then they upgraded, and I didn't D: I bought a psone earlier this year for t3h lulz, but it's still pisses me off my older cousins making fun of my brick psone. :(

Screw that, I got 3 Zenith/PSone screens for $9 each plus $18 shipping BIN on ebay, then realized how awesome that deal was, and ordered 2 more!

I would expect that to be the last deal for a long time, though... :(

I think that it might be worth getting the whole scene together and doing a group order for 50 or so LCD screens, in those kinds of quantities you can get a native res 640x480 5" screen for $25-35.

that would be awesome, although, good luck finding fifty or so people who need or want a screen at the same time, and have the money

What is this nonsense...$60+ PSone screens before shipping? When I bought mine 3-4 years ago it was only $30. Shenanigans I say!

Hm, that would be $1250-1750 total. I'm pretty sure we could get 5 people to pay $250-350 each for 10 screens each, which they could then sell to others...

I got a PSone screen and PSone a few years back for $30+$8 shipping. Decent deal for the time, great deal nowadays.

I got my first one when I got the combo when it came out and got my second screen for 15 off a friend. I played so much Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater back then, man those were the days.

On a side not now that you guys got me thinking of back in the day gaming:

Do you think kids are gonna grow up and where we had extremely fond memories of Super Mario World they will have the same feelings for Halo 3?
