Help needed (laptop screen issue)

Hi, folks,

Perhaps someone could recognize this problem: the laptop's LCD screen shows only every second column; the other every second column is white. The external screen shows normal picture.
Is the screen to blame, or graphic adapter?

Sounds like it could be the LCD controller, or (more likely) an issue with the cable that goes through through the hinge between the motherboard and screen controller, or either of its connectors.

Not really. As far as the computer is concerned, there's no issue so long as there isn't a problem with the video hardware (and since you said external screens work perfectly, it's fine).

Under term "the video hardware" I reckon it you mean the graphic card?

What you should do is take apart your computer. I predict the problem is either a torn ribbon cable, or (more likely) a loose ribbon cable at one of its ends, likely the connection on the LCD.

Google instructions for disassembling your Laptop's top half. "Removing the Bezel" / "Replacing the LCD" should be a good search query. You'll get nice step by step instructions on how to proceed. It's not very difficult at all, just a little daunting.

Once you've got it apart, open the clasp, jam the cable in all the way, close clasp, and test.
