quick question about batteries

i bought 6600mAh camcorder batteries, but they didn't have a charge protection circuit, but another set of batteries that i have does. the new ones are 7.4 volt and is 6 celled, and the other ones are 3000mAh and 7.4 volt, but the older ones have 2 cells. if i remove the old batteries on the protection circuit can i use that protection circuit for my new batteries?
