Opening Camcorder Battery

Post by zealot2009 »

Is it possible to safely open a camcorder battery. I ask this as I have a very thick battery and I want it to be flatter. Here is a pic: http://usih.merchantrun.com/ImageHostin ... laySize=-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yep :D just take your dremel and put on a fresh cutting wheel. Then cut the top and bottom and sides off. That's how I roll dawg. I've done 3-4 and I'm still alive.

I think we should check to see if you can withstand 220 volts

Carefully pry away with a screwdriver.

Remember to be careful though, don't just go cutting stuff up, try to stay as close to the outside as possible when you're cutting the plastic casing off.

when i got my camcorder batteries, i just lifted the front plate off with a knife- much safer than using a dremel, for the fact that the batteries won't explode if you slip up.
to be safe and not risking the batteries blowing up in your face i suggest using a knife

Awesome and sorry for another question but I've seen so many ways to get 3.3v with different TI Components but how can I get it with 7.4v. Also sorry for the n00by questions to all people with ub3r h4x0r 5k1ll5

the ti parts:
there are 2 parts available for free samples: the ti pth08000 and the ti pth08080
the pth08000 is a bit bigger than the pth08080, but nonetheless you get the same exact voltage from each other.
if you are really picky about size like mario was about his n64 portable then i suggest using the pth08080
you also need a 2.0 k resistor and a 100uf electrolytic capacitor. i recommend using a 50 volt capacitor
if you have a spare 1.8k resistor then USE IT! when i used the 2.0k resistor i got 2.264 volts, but as you may have heard the n64 extremely picky about its 3.3 volt line. anything above 3.4 and you just fried your board(well, if you get lucky like me and eurddrue and you accidentally put in 7.4 volts into the 3.3 volt line your board might be forgiving and be 100% fine)
and anything around 3.1 you get screwed up sound, and anything below 3 volts and the only thing your board will do is get hot. the voltage has to be within a tenth of 3.3 volts for it to function properly and a 1.8k resistor will get you damn near 3.3 volts. you can get the diagrams for both of the free ti parts here

please, ASK QUESTIONS! it may seem ub3r n00b1$#, but everybody does. trust me, i think it is better to be called a noob then it is to end up in a bomb squad trying to render a thermo nuclear device useless when you have no idea what
to do and the clock is ticking, or in your case, a fried n64

Knife, too dangerous. Dremel, your asking for trouble. Screwdriver? Your safe. Do that one.

Indeed. I just use a screwdriver to separate the plastic top and bottom, then screwdriver to lift and break off the plastic casing.
