Planning stages of n64 portable

I know I sound like a Noob here, but that is because I am but I am trying to learn. Any help that can eb provided would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking through the electronics that I have to see if I have all the major pieces needed to create a portable.

Of course, I have an N64 and a controller.

I have a Walmart brand (Durabrand) 7 inch LCD monitor - it is the 2nd monitor of a dual DVD player that has composite jacks and power to the LCD comes through a DIN jack from the main DVD player.

I have two options for a battery but not sure which would work best. I have the battery that attaches to the DVD player (it's an external battery that plugs into a power jack on the main DVD player but cannot be plugged directly into the 2nd monitor).

I also have an old HP laptop battery. The laptop is worthless but I know the battery still works. I broke it open last night and it has what appears to be lithium batteries attached end to end, sealed into two long tubes covered in green paper. The paper was ripped when cracking it open, but I was wondering if it would be possible to rearrange these batteries to fit in a case. It just seems to me that the batteries are too long and would take up too much space and make the case way too big.

If all of this works, my guess is that all I need to figure out at this point is getting voltages right so when the power is fed to the LCD and N64 board, it works.

I would like to maintain the ability to charge the laptop battery, and I'm not sure if this woudl be possible. I can crack open the laptop to see how the power is handled, but I'm not sure if the power connection in the laptop circuitry can be used because the power jack is at the back corner of the laptop and the power connection for the battery is underneath near the front.

but you may wanna start with something a little simpler like a SNESp or an NOACp.

for the battery, what amperage is it rated at and how much mAh of power does it have?

I'd try an easier project for my first one, but I do not have any other consoles to play with, just the N64 and I'm not really in the mood to try my first mod on my Wii

does it have a charge port?

It has an input line for power but I'm not sure how the power gets from the jack to the connection to the lithium cells. the battery pack has been opened up and it appears that there is a small circuit board that attaches to the cells, but still not sure how the power travels across the motherboard. Any ideas of how to find motherboard schematics online?

well, if the battery has an led, it's probably a protection circuit, and if it is then all you need to do is solder an input jack to the input lines on the protection circuit.
if it doesn't have an led, then when you charge your portable for the very first time, it's gonna explode

i recommend buying sony camcorder batteries. you can get 6600mAh batteries for about 20 dollars in the u.s, but i don't know if they have a charge protection circuit, but the charger for them isn't expensive.
camcorder batteries are your best option here

Well the specs say its eight cell so it could be opened and rearranged to fit your case better. What does the laptop charger say the rating and output is? And is there an actual little circuit board in that battery pack?

The ac/dc adapter is input 100-240v~1.8A 50/60hz and output is 19v,3.16a

There is a circuit board attached to the cells and it holds the connection to the laptop with 5 wires/pins.

If that circuit board is an actual protection circuit you shoudl be able to by another jack and just use your laptop charger. I dunno how to tell you if its a protection circuit though.

you can buy a protection circuit for around 10 dollars.
i forget where the website is, but just google "li ion charge protection circuit" and see what you find
