getting the power switch to stay on

I've been trying to bridge the power switch on my genesis.
i've I tried about 15 times with a small paperclip. When I go to solder it, the paperclip either falls out of place
or gets stuck to the iron. I dont want to just blob it with solder because I dont want to short the whole thing out.
Any ideas to get this accomplished or any soldering tips?

Use proper wire, don't use paperclips, they are coated!

When in doubt, use some flux. If you don't own any, be sure to pick some up next time you're out for supplies.

Use some tweezers to hold it in place, or maybe use some other piece of metal. Or just blob some solder from point A to point B.

1) Paperclips are usually coated in a flaky metal coating of some sort. Not good for soldering.. Use copper wire.
2) This is a situation where flux would solve all problems. Flux is an compound that eats away some of the oxides on the surface of a metal so that other metals like lead and tin can stick to it. In a pinch, use lemon juice. Be sure to use it sparingly: It's conductive. Unless you buy "no-clean" flux, you should clean your board before turning it on.
