yeah, comercial projectors are diferent. they ussually have 3 lcd's one for each color (RGB) and they are smaller than a psone lcd and with much more pixels just like you said.
Theres 7" lcd's with 800X480 and that ones are excelent for diy projectors but more expensive (about 230€).
I just wish i had done this project with a ligheter material. my projector weight is 7kg... MDF wood is very heavy. anyway from this 7kg, 2kg is only for the ballast (the transformer that power up the lamp).
psone lcd mod to reduce the red. potenciometer + resistance.
