Thoughts on this cheap unit???

I can wait and buy these after the summer. I'm getting the dingoo as a birthday present so its really no harm done if I get it. Since its small and cheap it would work the best for someone like me who works at a summer camp just needs something to keep him entertained while he waits for the buses to leave or for everyone to finish arriving or eating lunch (at the camp I work at it will sometimes take 1 hour in the morning for everyone to arrive and 3 in the aftenoon for everyone to be dismissed onto the buses.

Also the release date isn't really that close as to what engadget is saying and there will be no american release, I have time to wait untill after the summer and see what people think about it.

The problem is, the people at Engadget are idiots. I never really knew till I started spending 5 minutes google searching stuff I was interested. They may spend 1 minute checking their stories, tops.

Release date: It came out a week ago in China. As in, units are being sold, and there has already been a firmware update.

Second, there are MULTIPLE American distributors, including the people selling the Pandora (I was the one who tipped them off to this thing, hooray). I will be buying from PlaySmart, for reasons I have previously stated.

Honestly, the people on Engadget have far lower intelligence than the average forum member here.

That said, I would wait for the final English firmware, that is when I will buy one. I will let all you guys know what it is like.

I am on vacation in a place that usually has no internet access... This time, I brought my CFW DDWRT router, have it hooked up in client mode, so I can actually pull this signal from who know where.

Lucky. My birthday is in December. Last year, the total cost of my birthday and Christmas list added up to $150. The dingoo would take up over half of that lol.

btw, does anyone know if the dingoo will emulate the SNES Super FX chip? I would think not.

One bad thing though: Left speaker did not work on arrival: the machine that solders on the speakers bridge the + and the - wires. They probably set the speed to high Simple fix, took me 2 minutes.
