I'm recasing a GBASP into something I like holding better and I have room for two batteries. I want to use a DSphat battery because it's the same voltage and I already have one. It works in the SP and charges normally through the port on the SP. Anyway what I want to do is have a switch to change between the two batteries. That way I can still charge one at a time through the port and only be using one at a time.
The switch would be in addition to the power switch. I plan on using that as-is on the SP. But the new switch would be hooked up to the battery contacts on the SP. Is this idea going to work?

Re: Switching between two batteries
You would have to use a double throw double pole switch, with the gameboy's leads connected to the gameboy battery in one, and then when it switched the other way, it would connect to the DS battery.

If you do that, it will turn off between batteries.
Just use a cell twice as big, your old cells are probably burned out anyways. I have a 1000mah cell in my GBA SP, works fine.

Yes; As per my post, use a single cell that is twice as big.
No switch needed, either.

I suppose you could have some sort of incredible capacitor to bridge those few milliseconds inbetween the switching

Re: Switching between two batteries
Guys, I think he's planning on switching between the batteries with the main power off.
So Taiben, why not replace the stock SP switch with a I-0-II switch and have left and right positions be either battery, and center position be off?

Re: Switching between two batteries
Yeah I know it will turn off if I switch between batteries. Duh. Can't get current when the circuit is broken.
I dont care because I dont have any games with out saveing. I can just save it and turn it off for a switch without having to open anything up and change. And why would I buy new cells? My old ones aren't burnt out they work just fine. Why waste money when I still get five or six hours per battery?
I think I'l go with Tibia's idea. I'm shure I got 3 position switches somewhere.
