Re: the future of old consoles
Hey, now, to be fair, I now own one of those three games. And trust me, if I could afford to blow $200+ on "Panzer Dragoon Saga" and another $??? on "Daytona USA CCE Netlink Edition," I would.

Re: the future of old consoles
I've got four Japanese ones, as well, though not playable since I lack an Action Replay/GameShark/whatever. Three of them are redundant, quite truthfully (I own the US versions of "Burning Rangers," "Lunacy," and "Panzer Dragoon II"), but I like owning them nonetheless. I also have a Japanese backup cartridge; works perfectly on my Saturn. I want a Japanese 3D Pad, though; "NiGHTS" with one of those would rock hardcore.
I should take pictures of my collection sometime, come to think of it.
Anyways, if I could play my Saturn collection on the road, I'd be a very happy person; hell, I freaked out when I learned that there was a version of Yabause for the PSP! A very basic one that doesn't play games at more than 4 FPS, though, but the proof of concept was enough for me.

So why not make a Saturnp? Oh right, because they're really hard and really big. Carry on.Twilight Wolf wrote:Anyways, if I could play my Saturn collection on the road, I'd be a very happy person

Re: the future of old consoles
Ah, Satakore games? (I think that's what the red label ones were called; basically like the PlayStation's "Greatest Hits" line.) I'd like to get some of those myself. The one Japanese game I don't have the US equivalent of is "Virtual On"; I have no clue why I didn't mention that...
Does your copy of "NiGHTS" have the 3D Pad? Because I'd be really jealous if it did.

Games and consoles may break, but emulation - PERFECT emulation - combined with legal ROMs will keep them alive forever.

Re: the future of old consoles
These are what I think of when I hear "red label." ("Command and Conquer" was rated "Teen" in the States; that particular copy has what is essentially the Japanese equivalent of the "Everyone" rating.) I've never heard of the "adult" games being marked specially aside from this. I could be wrong, though.
I found the 3D Pad bundled with a copy of "Nights" and "Christmas Nights" for something like $30 after shipping... man, I wish I had bought it. Would have made a killer Christmas present for myself.

Re: the future of old consoles
It will be interesting, when you guys get into your fifties or sixties, whether old game systems become just objects for teenagers then to giggle at; or if the old consoles are treasured as "the path to the present". What will also be interesting, is which, if any, systems to date are still talked about then.ShockSlayer wrote:Just made a shocking discovery about the topic title:

Re: the future of old consoles
Eventually everything ruins, that's the truth not all hardware lives forever.
But what could be done is for someone to create a 8bit-16bit console Different from the clones that is compatible with nes and snes. Except a lot more sufficient, better more memory lots of upgrades and stuff.
lol i don't know were i am going with this its kinda dumb comment but yeah...

Re: the future of old consoles
Yeah I have a vague concept of that. Menu boot, cheat device, maybe even CDROM loader system.
