How to tell the voltage of a LCD monitor

Hey, I'm kind of new here and I wanted to start one of my projects with something simple, so I chose to make a super nintendo portable, and i wanted to use a 6.5"X4" LCD that came with a portable DVD player, but i don't know how many volts it takes, so I was wondering if there is a way to tell, or if anyone knows and would tell me, PS the battery it came with was a 10 Volt rechargable battery. If you need any more info, just say so.

Start with 10 volts, make sure you can get it to work first. Then, try lower and lower voltages until it won't turn on any more. You won't hurt it by using a voltage too low, it just won't turn on. Once you find the lowest voltage you can use you're done.

What if 10v is too high? The PSone screen doesn't work on 10v, for instance.
Also, it doesn't hurt to use a multimeter, because then you can find the exact minimum draw.

If he's worried about frying it, why not work the other way, starting from too low and adding more power?

Just wondering, if i just use a battery, what will it show, just fuzz, or just light up, just wondering, cuz im using my little brothers Poertable DVD player screen.

arent portable dvd player screens worthless for portables? because of the inputs and keeping the whole thing together? (the dvd player mobo, that is)

It's not worthless per se, but you do have to keep the mobo, which means it will be larger. For a large portable, that's less of an issue.

And they're cheap as hell Besides most first projects aren't exactly "small" they're perfect for just starting and realizing if this profession/hobby is what you want to do.
