First portable

Post by Hoboslayer »

Alright, subject header says it all I suppose, I'm currently working on designing my first n64 portable. Sadly I am at college and my n64 and goodies are at home (couple hour drive, no car, and not really something I would need mailed).

I feel like my conundrum can sufficiently be solved. Currently what's keeping me from solidifying my design is a lack of knowing the dimensions of some things, namely the mobo and the controller. What I'm looking for, specifically, the dimensions of the mobo (all 3) unmoddified and after the cart slot and expansion slot have been relocated (not counting where the cart and slot would be relocated to, obviously). For the controller I'd like to know the width and length of the controller's shell and the controller's board.

I know I'm not tossing out a lot for my design idea currently, keeping it low-key until I see how reasonable the sizing would be.

Almost forgot, psone lcd + board dimension (if there are significant dimensional differences with any modifications, would be great to know). Honestly the biggest thing I need to know about it is, is it smaller than the n64, comparative, slightly bigger?

Thanks for the help.

I have all of these modeled out in SketchUp. Want the file?
I don't have the controller though, that changes controller to controller.

That should work fine, the controller isn't as terribly important since I have a rough idea of what it's like.

Why relocate the expansion slot? It's not like you're going to hook a DD to a portable.
