A cheaper option than the transverter used in that last post. You will need some type of adapter to do it, though. There is no way to go straight from a GBA to a different screen.

Just thought I would let people know I found the RGB pins on that cheaper adapter.

It is a female of the dog species to hook up, though, 32 tiny little pins you have to PRESS onto the ribbon.

I posted about this well over a year back on my (crap) Nintendo 64 Advance project.

There are two ways to get TV out on a GBA: a GBA Converter and a GBA Transverter. Both can be modded to output RGB (I have pinouts).

Transverter is almost impossible to get now; however it is easy to rig up (ribbon cable slots into place), reliable; although as I recall needs about 1 amp to work.

Converter - quite easy to get hold of, but you clip the 32 / 40 pins of the BACK of the contacts on the ribbon cable port (WTF?) and hope it works. Unlike the Transverter, which loses about 5% of the right hand side of the screen image, the Converter shows the whole screen but only fills about 85% or so of the PSone screen.

I have used a Transverter in my projects (same one), got a Converter a while back, couldn't get the thing to work reliably; then ended up messing it up; bought another one recently, very cheaply; will let you guys know if it can be made to work or not - if it does, may well sell my Transverter card (just the board), will see.

The GBA converter is indeed hard to get working, I found that using rubbing alcohol to clean the pins on the ribbon connector, then pressing it down while using hotglue, gets a stable image. Once it is working, dump as much hot glue as you can on it to hold it in place.

That is the tactic I was planning to use myself on the Converter. I tried before to work out the wire connections and solder directly to them, failed (although my skills are better now), tried the official approach, failed, got it working a couple of times then it died and refused to work again; tried to make the clip better but in process, broke it.

Hot glue and luck seem to be the order of the day!
