can laptop keyboards be used for other stuff, or do they use some wacky connection that wont work with anything?
i picked up an old laptop at arc today, on the cheap. got a good harddrive, dvd drive, some ram cards, and a network card. anything else i should keep?

The problem is that 99% of the keyboards contain no circuitry (USB/PS/2 controller) and instead are just the matrix that connect to the controller that is integrated into the motherboard.

you can use the laptop keyboard, as most AT or PS2 controllers can use 15-30 pin keyboard connector but you might come to a hurdle when you realize the keyboard runs on 3.3v as many laptop keyboards do. or even 2v. this is simple enough though, all you would need is a diode resistor combo, i think...
