Rumble mod

there's this thing called the Nyke Shock N, Rock for the game boy color. you plug it into the gameboy, and it rumbles when an abnormaly loud sound comes out. i was wondering how it does it, and if i could build a circuit to do that for my next project.

Really simple thing to do, and a number of different ways to do it!

For instance, you could use a single 2n2222 transistor.
Speaker (-) to Base
Speaker (+) to Collector
Motor (-) to Emitter
Motor (+) to your power source!

Add a small (10 - 20 Ohm?) resistor in-between the Speaker(+) and the Collector, depending on what kind of voltage the audio source puts out.
Too high, and it might cut off on really loud sounds n' whatnot.


That would be the simplest way I can really think of


Then again, you could go a little more "deluxe" with a single LM386(?) Audio Amp, and wire it in a similar way.
Actually, PSP Modders use this method quite often from what I've seen.

sorry .it sounds really helpfull, but i have almost no idea what you just said. This is going to be my first mod. and i dont know a lot about electronic talk. i could understand it if i could maybe see a diagram. but thanks for the help

Stickies don't talk about transistors. Don't worry about Jlee, he always talks like that. I can hardly keep up with him. Maybe try PM'ing him to see if he will explain it for you.
