after not having used it for a while my psp 2000's screen is one third GREY on the right part.

could this be the lcd or the graphics chips?

im wondering coz if its just replace the screen then thats affordable, or i could use the tv out. but if its the graphics output, im dead :(¨

Pictures? You *could* tell if the screen is cracked by just looking at it.

I've seen this problem before and every time it has either been a bad LCD or loose ribbons. Just take the Slim apart and look at where the ribbons for the LCD plug into the motherboard. Are they in far and straight?

No visible cracks in the screen.

I've checked the ribbon cable just now, its not broken and its far in, not loose, reconnected it anyways for safety.

Attachments do not work here; you need an external link, as you did.

It is not the graphics chip, as you put it.

It could be the connector on the motherboard for the screen, but if I had to bet, I would say there is a 90% chance you have a bad screen.

The fact that it is a screen portion tells us that one of the three miniature LCD controllers on the LCD (there are three that control regions of the screen) has gone bad. This happened to my father's laptop - it is the screen, not the PSP itself. Should be a simple and cheap fix.
