Anyone got an easy project for me to start out on?

Out of all the systems I've got that can be made more portable, I've got a Gamecube, a top loading NES, an original NES, a Super nintendo, an N64, an original Grey PS1, and a Genesis.

I've got little to no knowledge of soldering. I've got a portable dvd player as a screen.

What can I do?

Build an LED flashlight. They are pretty useful and easy to do.

Easy projects? Well, there's the one eurdue mentioned, you can overclock a gameboy, change the LED in a system, paint a system"s case with krylon fusion, make your own video cabels for your systems. There are tons of easy things you can do. You should also find some broken or crappy electronics thing, and practice soldering to that .

My dad (an engineer by trade) always told me as a wee lad whenever I would want to build something or program on the computer "Build some sandcastles before you build a skyscraper." So go with some simple projects first, or just practice taking things apart and putting them back together again. Learn how to use all the tools, like soldering irons, multi meters, etc. And don't give up if you fail, just keep at it and you'll become good enough to build nearly anything.

make a snes, psx, or nes controller to parallel port adapter for your computer.

I did this mod to my PS2 controller today, extremly easy and usefull ^^

so I think it will be a good/easy starting for you.

it works for all PSX ,PS1 and PS2 controllers.

after you get done the hardware part, use those drivers. (those are only worked for me)

the only inconvenience is that you will need an 9v or 12v external power suply if you want to have the forcefeedback (rumble feature)
