Hello! - first post (introduction)

Post by crazy climber »

Hello everyone
Would like to use my first post to introduce myself. I go by the name Crazy Climber (my favorite arcade game, the older guys will know what I'm talking about) and I have finally taken the plunge into the world of hacking consoles. I have lurked around on the forums now and then but didn't get serious until I finally picked up Bens book. I was able to meet Ben and Longhorn Engineer (known him a little while from Atariage) at the recent MGC and that reminded me that I've wanted to do this portable thing for quite a while now. I am a long time Atari 2600 fan and collector and am ready to start my first Atari 2600 portable. It looks difficult and I promise I will try not to beg for help every time I get a little stuck but I might ask a question here and there if I can't find the answer searching through the old forum topics so I apologize in advance for any noob behaiver  Well, I picked up my 3" casio and I am going to start working on my case. My day job consists of running CNC machinery, mainly a 3 axis router (page 96 of Bens book) so I should have a little advantage in getting the case together, it's the rest of the "hacking" I am worried about. Well, looking forward to seeing everybody around the forums, see you around! :D :D :D

I'm DJ. People are very nice and helpful here, trust me on that.

Good luck on your portable
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

Welcome crazy climber! If you do have a question, don't be afraid to ask. Or use the search button. Anything and everything has probably been brought up already, so you'll be able to find it much faster.

Oh, and what are the $ rates of your CNC machining? :D

Hey Guys, Thanks for the warm welcome! I noticed a few inquires about the CNC machine rates. I only really have access to a Router no lasers, not sure if the router is as sought after as a the laser. Looks like the book recommends the laser for a lot of stuff but I do think a router can do quite a bit of stuff as far as cases go. Just none of the fancy engraving but the solid case construction should be very possible. Let me know what you guys think about that. If a router is in demand I could do some pretty reasonable rates, especially now since we are slowing down a bit at the shop. I use the router every day and I have a very cool boss that encourages personal projects :D

I'm Chris and I like N64. Be careful with power wires. I shorted 12V and 3.3V and fried an N64.

Good luck, happy modding!

I'm drue and I'm obsessed with benheck forums. All I do is sit on here refreshing the page all day and talking to people I've never met, because I have no life. I end up spamming and almost everybody hates me and ignores me. :D Welcome to the forums.

I am PalmerTech, I start lots of projects without finishing them, play more with LCD screens than anyone else on the forums as far as I know, and have made it my personal responsibility yo PWN ALL the N00BZ who come here to lie about their modding skillz. And people who have been here a while, and STILL lie about their skillz. And the other posters are right, for the internet, we tend to be a nice group.

Just remember: Post count/=Credibility.

Oh, and I am also interested in getting you do to CNC stuff.

Looks like we got lots of love for the N64 around here :D I kind of missed out on the 64 bit era, thats around the time I became legal drinking age and video games took a back seat for awhile, well unless you count Golden Tee  Used to play Bad squirel day and mario kart at a friends house. Very fun games! Ohh, I almost forgot about Goldeneye!! That was an awesome game! I always wanted to try the Zelda games for the 64, they look pretty fun :D
