Audio FX 5.1 headset

Hi to you all

I have just got my set of these cool headset and wanted to know what is the best setting to have, the software that came with them has a virtual 7.1 setting and also system input from 2ch to 8ch there is also a Analog output from 2 chan to headphones.
how should I set these for best results?.

then there is another set of controls in the game L4D this goes from Headphones to 7.1 what should i set this to in the game????

any help would be welcome.
