I run Malware Bytes every week and that keeps me clean along with my Symantec Anti-Virus

Yes. You never learned this mnemonic device?
"30 days has September, April, June, and November."
All the rest have 31 except February, the runt of the litter.

Re: Anyone hear about Conficker?
I got ThreatFire installed today. It's worked well for me on my old computer. And I'm banking on it working well for me on this computer.
I will also put the Windows Firewall up on high tomorrow just to make sure time zones don't get me. I also have the Norton firewall already running. So I hoping I have a pretty good defense up just in case this conficker threat turns out to be real.

Of course, but African swallows are non-migratory...nevermind1534 wrote: You could put that corrupted drive in our migratory box.

Not looking forward to this tomorrow. Work for my Uni IT department and if this hits tomorrow, I'm going to have one hell of a busy day.

Then you should be safe. The patch to fix the exploit went out a while ago.

Seriously guys.
Who heard about this in the last two weeks?
Now who heard about it BEFORE that?
Do the math.

Re: Anyone hear about Conficker?
It's obviously some April fools prank, we've had countless of these in the past and nothing ever happens. If you were so paranoid of this "threat" that apparently is striking on April 1st, why wouldn't you just unplug your internet for a day?

Re: Anyone hear about Conficker?
The noobs who are scared piss me off, but sometimes it's just downright funny.
For example, on the radio today (680 News, a Toronto AM Station that's pretty big) had an article on conficker. It was pretty hilarious.
http://www.680news.com/news/national/mo ... 3124087021
Even reading that, there are a few oversights:
1) Early strikes? HOW? It's programmed to go off April 1st, not March 31st. It's a program, it doesn't get antsy and impatient
2) It can infect military equipment but not Macs?
3) "680 News keeps citing "Experts" without any sources. I say they just got the information from Wikipedia, like everyone else did.
4) Microsoft putting out a bounty? Why would they care? It's just another worm, they can release a patch for far less than a quarter million that blocks the attack.

Re: Anyone hear about Conficker?
It actually is real. A few people I know got it. What it did to them was bring up loads of spam, then nasty videos and then a full hdd wipe. All there computer files gone from their hard drive.
