Has Conflicker struck yet?

Post by limpport »

Yes, yes it has. Both of my desktop's with XP do not work. They boot up, but just show the background. I've tried to start "explorer.exe", but that does nothing.
I'm on my Mac right now, and nothing is wrong with it, thank God.

Man................

Safe mode?

Boot up off a live CD to see if your stuff is still there?

Do you hear the hard drive chugging?

Does iexplore.exe do anything?

Have you tried rebooting again?

Cold boot?

Set the BIOS clock back a few days?

I've tried rebooting both computers, and they won't do safe mode. None of the F keys do anything in startup. The hard drives sound fine (quiet).

But what is a cold boot?

Turning it on from being completely off. (Unplug for 5 minutes or so, then plug back in.)

If you unplug it from the web and try booting, does it work?

I read it disables Safe Mode. We'll have to see if it does anything after April 1.

I tried a cold boot with my wireless unplugged and non-functional. Same thing. I took them both into my local repair shop earlier this morning. I got a call around 6 with them saying there was nothing they could do. They said that the hard drives were nearly wiped clean, and that the computers "refused to install anything".

This really really sucks.....................
April Fools everyone!

I remember one of my friends got a virus that wiped his drive completely. I had to recover the data for him.
