NEED help: PROBLEMS

ok, so I had been making an N64P and suddenly the screen wont work

I turn it on and the audio works but the screen just blinks and then doesnt work (the brightness/volume buttons dont work either

the screen is getting about 6.5 volts which is fine correct?
and leading up to this, the screen would get all wavy but i attributed that to the fact that that would only happen when the battery was getting low

i checked wiring and thats fine

could this be because the LED's in the screen burned out?

I would appreciate any help THANKS!!!

Try turning the brightness all the way up and shining a flashlight on it. That's how I confirmed a PSone backlight fail.

Yes, 6.5v is too low. You need (as I recall) a minimum of 6.9v. When the power gets just under what it needs, the screen goes wavy, flicky and then off.

put in around 7.2 volts. That ought to do you good.

OK...I've determined that the LED's are burned out and i read the voltmeter wrong

i can barely see a picture but its there so im gonna fix that

but i want to know what my options are as of right now

1) i could replace the existing LED's but then they might just keep burning out after a while (however, the screen wasn't new so it could have been used for several years before

or

2) i could do the led mod and add my own

which would be the best choice?

We still don't know if you're talking about the PSone screen! And it never came with LEDs, so you must have a different screen, right?

and i was reading through all these things about LED's and the psone screen, so i must have just been mistaken

but if there are no led's then what is the backlight

and how do i fix it so that its not really really dark

The backlight is a CCFL tube (a mini florescent light) which do burn out after some time. Your only option is to do the LED mod, now. Or find someone with extra tubes.

do the symptoms i described about the screen fit with the screens backlight being burned out?

Yes, they do. Also make sure you give the screen the 7.5v it needs.

i think i was wrong about that...cause it still does that when its plugged in
