Try uploading it to ImageShack or another image hosting web site. Then, visit the page it gives you. (Windows) right-click the image, select "Properties". Where it says "Address: (URL)", select the URL and copy it. Then go back to the profile editor, paste the URL into the text entry "Upload from URL:", and press "Submit".

FYI: Most image hosting sites are blocked in schools and libraries.

Yeah if found it odd that even though I went with the reduced size (80x80, 5kb) I still couldnt get the avatar I wanted to load. Any idea why it didnt work, and so you know I did both photobucket and saving it on the forum.

80x80 is too small for an avatar I think, and 5KB is hard to get from a piccy

Nope 80x80 is bigger then what I have now which is 65x63. Also I couldnt get it uploaded if it were bigger it just kept telling me that it needs to me 80x80 and 5kb or less.

15KB is better. Some people don't care about that, though.

Compress it as a GIF with as few colors as possible. (indexed colors, of course.)
