You mean a Super Nintendo portable, I take it? They usually run $500, more or less, but it depends on who is making it.

Materials alone is around $250. And expect a profit to be had. $500 seems fair.

It is one of the more straightforward portables, though, so if you get a copy of Ben's book and do it yourself, it'd be quite a bit cheaper for you; plus, you'd have a lot of satisfaction in knowing that you did it.

If you are intending on buying one in the future, make sure to give the person some time to do it - you can't just expect them to knock one out over the weekend because you asked them to do so.

So, a Super Nintendo MINI, (yes, you do not want the original) are usually pretty hard to find, but they run around $40-$50, if you find one.
The much more common, but unofficial one is the Retro Duo, and I know a local place that sells those for around $30, and they are brand new. I'd get one and sell it to you, if you'd like (because there is no way in hell I am selling you anything I personnally own).
As for a screen, it depends what you are looking for, as I got my PSone screen for $10, when they are usually around $40. I also got a 7.4 v battery with 6 Ah (li-ion) for $30, and then a charging circuit for $8 (might have been $10, I can't remember). Also, you will need some random components (like resistors, LEDs, etc.) which aren't very expensive.
So the total for this project should be around $130-$150 (or $200, if you're thick and buy stuff online for terrible prices) according to what I've told you. But that is just for the parts, although, since you need a case, that can range from free to $100+, depending on what you want to do (eg cardboard, vac forming, or CNC machine).

heh, I got a 7400mah 7.4 battery for the same price!! 4 of them for $119.96 (so not exactly the same they were $29.99)
