It got leaked so I put it on my Flashcard. I already beat it in Japanese so now maybe I can figure out what the hell to do in the Fight Area.

113 I ran around a lot in the beginning. Then I just bought the manual

I first played through Pearl before I had a DS on an emulator. It was one of the reasons I got a DS, but no way did I want to play through it all over again just for online play. I was JUST about to steel myself into playing through again, Platinum got announced. So this will be my first time all the way through on a real DS, online play included. I will just be getting to where I can swap over my lvl 100 Ruby/Fire Red team, which is composed entirely of 1st gen pokemon.

Pokemon sucked past blue. Back in the days when there was only ...erm... 150 pokemon, and having the 251 mew was a big shocker. I've seen pokemon that are exactly the same as the old ones with different names and shapes. Some pokemon cards are exactly the same, with a different picture, word for word. One such example is the old charmander and some new fire pokemon. 50HP, ember, and scratch.

Everything past that was all about marketing and selling more pokemon crap.

There were only 150 in blue. My favorite generation was the Gold/Silver/Crystal gen, actually, which DID have 250, with Celebi being 251.

I know, I was just going by the pokemon you could obtain without going to Japan or cheating. If you wanted to get really technical, you could claim missingno was #0, and there were actually pokedex entries up to 255, most of them filled with garbage filler data.

mind you-the people who make these games get paid for it. and the fact that the games and merchandise related to pokemon hasn't ended (and are extremely popular) just goes to show that there is demand. and if there's demand, then these people make more.
i admit that i still buy merchandise with the first generation pokemon because i enjoyed it so much.

however, i am on the same side as you. i have never been as entranced in a pokemon game as i was when i got pokemon blue. but, when i went out and bought pearl i was kind of disappointed. there were too many things to do (side quests or whatever) and felt a tad bit too bombarded. but some people really enjoy that in a game.

but the fact is: people all over the world are eating this stuff up.

i think it's obvious, but i'm not buying platinum. i'm excited to see what the new pokemon are, though.

can you catch pokemon in any of the second-and-above generations that were in the first? i think i remember fighting them but not being able to find them in the "wild".

Meh, I'm rather neutral on the new pokemen(is this the correct plural, or is it one of those weird words like moose?). I wasn't allowed to play pokemon until I was rich enough to buy them from my friends for $5 cheaper, which was when sappire and ruby came out. I loved it. So now I've beaten every pokemon game I've ever touched or fondled gently (that's a lot)

1st generation and second generation were good. Haven't dealt with the third yet, so I can't judge. Imagine they must be running out of ideas now. what generation are we coming to now?
