Would these batteries work?

I was digging through my junk today and found these:

There 3.6 volts and but don't say anything else
Would these be decent for a portable?

They're 1.2 amps, so 1200mA each. They'll work, but there are longer-lasting batteries available. I've never used them, myself.

Well for the wonderful price of free, they wouldnt be too bad

I'm 70% sure those are NiCad, check them.

If so, they're heavy and don't store a lot of charge.

I've never noticed any problems with short battery life from my nickle cadnium batteries. Maybe I should compare them to my nimh ones.

Usually Ni-Cd batteries have about half the capacity of the equivalent Ni-MH cells. They're still usable, they're just not the best chemistry for portables.

They're heavier than Ni-MH or Lithium batteries. They're still used in most power tools today because they have a very high power drain.

A lot of tools are going for NiMh technology these days. Most tools you actually you use at home/work arent that new though. lol.

Some fancy expensive ones are throwing down LiPh cells now.
