exactly i was saying that it wasn't enought amperage to be very dangerous, but enought to shock me (only about a cm of skin to move through so a lot less resistance than some shocks) <-the contacts i touched were very close together.

Pretty much the only thing I am telling you NOT TO TAKE APART are CRT screens. They are the kind with the picture tube, like a TV. There is a part on the back of the tube called the Flyback Transformer which steps up house voltages to about 100,000 volts. DO NOT, UNDER ANYCIRCUMSTANCES TAKE APART ONE OF THESE THINGS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE DOING!!!

With what? You'd need a balloon the size of Texas to take that much static electricity

! I have never heard of a way to discharge one of those capacitors other than letting it sit for a few months...

The simplest discharge circuit I know of is to hook up the capacitor to a power source, and have a resistor in parallel with the capacitor.

Yep yep. That's how stun guns work. With the help of a transformer, a 9V battery can be stepped-up from 9V at a few hundred mAh to 900V at a few mAh.

The reason 9Vs can actually put out that high of a voltage but still last is because of how few mAh the stun gun draws.

I heard it's a myth that it ruins the microwave. I think it was mythbusters or something like that.

any extra microwaves can damage the magnetron inside a microwave, when doing stupid (yet fun) crap like putting a furby in the microwave or microwaving a cd it's a good idea to put a glass of water in it too to absorb some microwaves to avoid damaging the magnetron.
