Cheapest screen possible...I'm pretty clueless

For starters, yes I have Ben's book. However the 2 screens he mentions and routinely uses are out of my price range for my latest project. So, I need a cheap, but also relativly small screen.
As always, your help is greatly appriciated

A cheap screen is going to suck. Screens are one of the more expensive components of any project you'll find here.

And frankly, if $60 is out of your price range, you better just stop now. This hobby gets pricey.

Dealextreme has some little screens which are cheaper and smaller than pocket TVs.

Price really isn't a huge hurdle for me...however, the actual NESClone I'm portabilizing cost me absolutely nothing, and putting a $60 screen on it sounds completely ridiculous. If there really aren't any available, please do post what you think the best screen I can get, for the best possible value(keeping in mind what its being attached to).

I hope you realize that with any older console, the screen is almost guaranteed to be the most expensive part.

There's no way around it, LCD comes with a price, and 60 seems reasonable to me.

you could get a defective portable dvd player(one that doesn't read discs) for around 10 or 20 bucks off ebay. ***IMPORTANT*** make sure it has some type of video INPUT - most of the time the screens are around 8.5 inches in size, which can be a little too large for portables, but i'm sure you can find one smaller. another problem is you will probably still need the motherboard - usually after you pull off most of the unwanted hardware on the motherboard, they are pretty small and flat. still, it's best to go with the psONE screen, or the pocket tv one
