The best solder to use

Post by grayfox126 »

im a noob at soldering and I have a somewhat big project to work on. I was wondering what would be the best type of solder to use for small electronics. The last time I tried soldering, it was on a plastic ddr pad's controller that I was using to make my metal one. Whenever I used the stuff that came from radioshack the wires just wouldn't stay connected to the contacts. So I was wondering if this was me just being crappy at it, or if there is a better solder to use.

Thanks in Advance

Anything would work. 60/40 is just fine.

I find the "electronics solder" is "sticky". For surface-mount jobs, it cools far too quickly for my taste, and doesn't pool. It could be good in some cases, but I prefer regular old 60/40. (Tin/Lead)
