what is a good SRAM battery seller?

I'm looking for surface mount replacement batteries for replacing the batteries in Game Boy games as well as NES and SNES (and maybe some Genesis) games. The type needed is CR2025 for GB and CR2032 for consoles and they need to have surface mount solder tabs. Does anyone know of a good place to buy them from that is reliable, inexpensive, and has near identical to OEM sizes/shapes? Digikey has a similar battery, but its called a "BR2032" and the mah rating is lower, meaning the life would probably be shorter. They also have a CR2032, but the tabs are a vertical mount and I couldn't bend them like I need to. Don't recommend me other methods like battery seats, soldering wires to normal batteries, or cutting the tabs off of the old battery, those methods take too long and are too finicky for the volume I'm going to be doing (well, except the seat, which is too difficult to find in a size that will fit).

and if you're wondering why I don't buy that one, its because its a CR2016 and if it worked at all, it wouldn't last for crap.

The battery is a standard size. http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/browse ... r2032&Ntx= They are good. Just make sure that it's a CR2032 before buying one of those. If it's not, just search for the model.

If you've got a Batteries Plus in your town, I'd recommend checking them out. I got a replacement battery for my Dreamcast from them, so they could probably order the kind of batteries you need.

dude, nice site! can anyone confirm, does the CR2032 fit/work no problem in a gameboy game?

Yes it does. It fits very nicely, and the only difference between the 2025 and the 2032 is that the 2032 will last a bit longer. I've long since gotten in the habit of replacing them all with 2032s, so that I only need to keep one size on hand.

then why did they ever use the 2025 in the first place? I always thought it was a size issue, but now it just seems like they were cheap/stupid/poop egress.

My grandparents' computer had a CR2025 that I had to replace last year. It was soldered onto the board, too. For that, I bought a battery socket from newark. They have free shipping for most stuff, too. But for capacitors, they have a $20 flat fee for shipping from the UK.

It is a size and cost issue. The 2025 and 2032 are both 20mm in diameter. The 2025 is 2.5mm thick and the 2032 is 3.2mm thick. The larger thickness of the 2032 allows it to hold a charge longer, and the extra material adds a little more cost.

Unless the 2025 battery is already in a real tight location you could probably fit a 2032 in its place. This would last longer than putting another 2025 in there.
