I'm not a hacker, but somebody told me i'd put my processor on upside down on my motherboard...
I was like "upside down so the pins were facing the top. easy mistake to make."

Friend: where is the country of Scotland?
Need i say no more. If you don't get the joke look up some info on the U.K.
Friend: How do you solve that so fast? (rubik's cube)
Me: I twist it a lot.
Hi, um, I need a water pump for a '63 Corvair...
Walk into AutoZone and try getting anything for a 1969 AMC Rambler, they either don't carry it or it's at a store 30 miles away, main reason why mine isn't on the road.
*Walk up to table*
Friend: Um, you know about computers, right?
Me: Yeah, why?
Friend: Um, so my computer said I needed to upgrade Antimalware 2009, and I did, and now I'm getting a bunch of popups
Me: Were you on Internet Explorer at the time? [she won't switch to Firefox, already tried]
Friend: Yeah..... Am I an idiot?
Me: Pretty much you downloaded "Punch-you-in-the-face-ware", I wouldn't say you're an idiot per se-
Friend: D*mn it, I'm an idiot
*other friend laughs uncontrollably*

This old guy I work with was asking me about HDTV's cause his old tube tv broke
Old Guy: I'm going to buy one of those LCD TV's. What are those numbers for? like 100 to 1?
Me: Oh, that's the contrast ratio. Don't get it if it's 100:1. That's bad. You just need to know that the higher the number, the better it looks. Same with the resolution. Get something that's at least--
Blind Girl: What are you guys talking about?
Me: Oh... (trying not to offend her) we're just... talking about TV's. You know... high definition ones... resolution and contrast ratio...
Blind Girl: Oh my God, Collin. How do you even know about all that stuff?
Me: umm.. (i can see)
Blind Girl: Well, I was thinking about getting one of those too. Like, a really big one.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

One guy told me about how my DS is "pretty much the same as an N64". I told him how the DS has an ARM7 and an ARM9 and the N64 has a MIPS processor. Totally different architecture. Id post the whole conversatri=on but I'm typing on an Eee PC right now- horerid kb.

Re: what's the dumbest thing a non-hacker has said to you?
i had a kid try to convince me thet my samsung p2 was an iphone.
i also had a kid tell me that to make my ps1 mobo smaller, i should just cut the chips off it and solder them together. he was absolutely positive that is was possible too!
my friend wanted me to rig up some ipod speakers for him, while we were at his house, out of a pair of old headphones. he thought that i could somehow make the standard ipod headphones as loud as his ihome. then, after explaining that that wouldnt work, and actually finding some true speakers, he tried to convince me that his dads acetylene torch was a soldering iron.

Should be a TBI (throttle body injection) design. A LOT of people get the two confused, as they look similar. If nothing else, in 1990 it would have a feedback carb, still requiring a computer.i wasnt aware that jeeps were still carbureted in 1990, almost every vehicle had some kind of fuel injection by then, i could be wrong tho. rekarp would know
Although, the intake (and I would presume the cylinder head as well, though I'm not that familiar with Chrysler these days,) could have been changed over to a carb design from an older 4.0. (Unless that Jeep has that 2.5L 4 cyl.)

Kid (not the computer kid, but his friend) : DUDE! when did THAT come out??? (refering to mario's
n64p)
Me: That? It was made by one of the members on the site, not nintendo.
Kid: Wow that is pretty cool.
CCK(crashed comp. kid): Hey Bill, aren't you making a snes portable?
Me: yeah. (shows him my biuld thread)
CCK: Wait. How big is it going to be?
Me: Not too big for a cudtom portable. Only about 7 inches wide.
CCK and Kid: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! That's so big!!! You'll never be able to even hold it!!!!!
Me: yeah you will. It's not like it will the size of a laptop or anything.
CCK and Kid: * mocking me by having hands about three feet apart pretending to play a gigantic portable*
Me: ...... .... .. .. .
Oh, and the one about the kid with the xbox graphics on ps2 was great!

In all fairness, he could have been talking from a gaming standpoint. They aren't too different if you look at it that way. It's the insides that are different, which most people don't really care about.XCVG wrote:One guy told me about how my DS is "pretty much the same as an N64". Today in Class I was talking to a girl who's computer has been broken for a little bit.
So I asked her:
me- So what kind of computer did you have?
Her- A dell
Me- So did you get another dell?
Her- No, it's a Vista.
