Hi i have a microphone for a computer and the jack broke and i dont want to buy a new mic and i have plenty of head phones that work and i was wondering if i could solder my headphone jack to my microphone. The only problem i have is that a microphone has three wires and i a head phone has like 4. Any help please?

Do the 3.5mm jacks have the same number of contacts (rings) on the pin?

Wire them together in different ways until it works. If it doesn't, buy a real replacement like bicostp said.

Microphone and headphone jacks use the same plug. Just solder the mic's wires to the appropriate wires on the headphone jack cable. (In this case bare to bare, and colored/coated to the coated signal wire.)

You can tie the two ground leads together, since they both go to the same pin on the 1.8" jack. (They're just separate because you need 2 wires per headphone for them to work.)
