PS2 Rumble Lawsuit

Post by G-force »

Sucks to be Sony right now. Although the lawsuit seems a bit late, considering how long PS2 has been out. Did they just not notice the PS2 was using their technology becuase they were living under a rock, or what?

Y'know ben probably could have gotten a couple million $ if he had sued.... Then it would be, PORTABLES FOR EVERYONE!!! (more like a lifetime supply of beer  )

Makes you wonder if Sony's grip on the vg industry could be loosened enough to get Nintendo back on top, that is with a few fixes on their part. Still...what dreams may come both dark and deep, of flying birds and soaring leep...

Yeah, I can't imagine their method of vibration is much different. You put an unbalanced weight on a little motor, right? Or is it the idea of putting this in a controller that's causing the suit. Wasn't there force feedback in PC controllers before Sony did it with the Dual Shock? If that's the case, and the PC controller manufacturers did the same thing Sony did, then Sony should be in the clear from my understanding of these kinds of lawsuits. If you don't do anything about it for too long, then it's much harder to win a case like this.

It reminds me of that company that bought the rights to JPEG and then tried suing the world.

Sounds like what SCO was trying to do.

Anyways they didnt mention GameCube or Nintedo so I'm guessing Nintedo developed all the stuff like that inhouse so as to avoid crap like it.

They often do. Think of it. Last time they worked with someone else on technology was the PlayStation. They'd have to be pretty dumb to let themselves get burned like that again. And the best way to avoid it, is to develop as much of your own technology as possible. It's a dog eat whatever the hell it can get it's paws on world out there...

Nintendo already licenses the technology, and Microsoft settled out of court in 2003.

And "Unidentified Assilant" - it's JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group). Don't believe me? Go to http://www.jpeg.org

There was also the guy who sued 40 different companies including Sony, Intel, AMD, and more because he owned rights to the processor.

One thing I'm never gonna do is put rumble in a portable. I don't have 90.7 mil to pay for putting motors in a plastic case.
