I've seen quite a few PSPs around here, actually. Then again, I'm in the middle/upper class side of the city I live in, so that may be a factor.

I saw a PSP in school today, one of the kids got one, I kinda hate the kid, so I kept my distance, but from 4 feet away, it looked pretty F-ing nice. I'm tied between the DS and PSP for what I'll buy when proper funding is made available.

I believe that we won't really know how successful the NDS will be until GBE and the next Gamecube are released. For all we know, they are fully compatible and could do some interesting things, such as a Gamecube Next OS that can use the NDS's stylus as a mouse/touchscreen/tiny drawing tablet.

I think the NDS having some hidden level of RF capability points to maybe this, or some sort of add-on in the future which may prove interesting.

I try to reserve judgement on a portable, therefore, until a while after release, usually when more complex third-party components start to appear, but I'd call it a step in the right direction.

He had his backpack keylocked, the key chained to his belt.
Aside from that, hes on the wrestling team, is ripped from what I hear, and would kick any thief's ass.

I know, but the PSP looked pretty beautiful, regardless of any measures he took to protect it.

I have seen the Gameboy go downhill. It really hit its peak at the GBC.

Seriously, though, I prefer the PSP over the Nintendo BS.

And they should haave given the Gamecube a real DVD drive.

Seriously, why does the GCN need a DVD drive? So it could compete with the wonderful movie playing sk1llz of PS2? Yeah, real tough competition there.

As for Gameboys, I like my SP, its the NES one, it looks cool, and I've beaten Super Mario World on it, many a time.

The DVD drive and Online connectivity are selling points that the PS2 and XBox can use against the original GC. It is logical to try to get rid of any gap in capability, game related or not.

Besides, DVD isn't just for movies, but it is a disk capacity in this case(DVD-ROM vs. DVD Video). DVDs can hold several gigabytes of data, while the mini-disks might not hold as much. In computers and games, DVD-ROM is the correct term, though it isn't hard to add DVD-Video capability to a DVD-ROM system, so most do so.

I got the PS2 over the NGC, though I knew the NGC had slightly more Processing speed, because the fact that the PS2 was DVD-capable and the NGC wasn't indicated larger games or more graphics and audio storage space on the disk, plus the reverse compatability helped in my choice.

I also hope for an add-on to play N64 games on the DS, third party or not, but that likely won't happen...unless one of the people here decides to try it. ^^*

Edit: However, Nintendo is a master of game compression, and can make games fit in smaller spaces than other game developers. I guess, however, that as you get more detail, like in new consoles, the effects of compression on game quality increase...

The mini discs the Gamecube uses use DVD technologies and hold about 1.5 GB of data (as far as I know).

That's about 1/3rd a normal DVD capacity. (I've heard figures circling around 4.7GB for normal DVD formats.)

With the next generation of consoles going to HD or BlueRay, Nintendo needs to keep up.
