snes mini problems

I recently bought a snes mini and I've been noticing some slow down on games. The games have been cleaned and it still happens. I get slowdowns on Super Metroid (during boss fights and it is slowed down a few seconds after a super bomb) and Super Mario World (when more than 8 enemies come on screen). I know it isn't the game itself because it runs normal on my regular snes. I also get graphical glitches on Super Ghosts and Ghouls. I have two copies and both do the same thing on the mini but not the regular one. Is this normal? Did the mini use different hardware or is something wrong with mine?

Edit: Almost forgot... I'm new to the forums! I was going to build my first portable with the mini but I'm not so sure now.

That's not the mini's fault, at least in general. I know when I had one star fox had built-in slow motion, but I'm pretty sure it was like that for every snes.

I'd check for crap on your mainboard or vents, and feel around for any heat issues.

What should I do if anything is getting hot? The outside was covered in a layer of dust when I got it. I haven't opened it because I can't find my gamebits.

Well dust on the case is fine, as long as it's not blocking the vents (ie heat transfer).

Here are some things I can think of:

1) The 7805 regulator is loose, and is getting way too hot, messing up your voltage/current going to the system.

2) The cartridge connector is dirty.

3) There's crap stuck in the vents and after a while your system gets way too hot inside.
