Well, there WAS some stuff they were lazy with. Apparently, they have some sort of deal where they cannot just throw away working stuff for people to scavenge. I got some still working USB mice, though.

Re: Circuit City closing sales - what deals did YOU get?
Good news: Found a battery that will work for the UPS. It reads 12v (no dead cells, unlike the 1.2v one that came out of it), and has the right connectors.
Bad news: It's much larger than the old one.

But, the battery compartment has several big, useless plastic partsthat can easily come out. I started with a Dremel and a cutoff wheel, but that worked slowly and made a lot of smoke. (It seemed to melt its way through the plastic. Probably needed a mini sawblade wheel instead of the stone wheel.) Tearing it apart with pliers worked faster and broke the plastic off the case relatively cleanly, and the dremel cleaned up everything the pliers couldn't get.

It fit perfectly! Seriously, all the plastic parts that supported the old battery had to come out, and there's maybe a millimeter of space on each side. It still presses against the door tight enough to keep it from rattling around. There's absolutely no way to cram a bigger battery in this thing.

Plug it in, charge it for a while, put a light on an outlet connected to the inverter, unplug its AC cable, and...

Best $10 I ever spent at CC. (Well, there was that wireless keyboard with a trackpad for the HTPC, but that was $20.) This was probably the last useful thing they had left.
Time to rip off all the stickers they put on it at the distribution center to keep the retailtards from plugging it in wrong...
EDIT: Oh, and in case you ever wanted to see the inside of one of these things, it's basically just a big transformer and a buzzer.

I know you work as law enforcement... but what makes you so perfect? You live in the same country as me and the cops around here are a bunch of pricks anyway. Lazy slimey copulate who 'patrol' the streets at night to bust lads for trying to enjoy a night out or smoking weed, because apparently it's harming everyone around them.bacteria wrote:I don't sell software.Skyone wrote:cowsgoquack101: you are my best friend and I would be no where with out you. I judge you not because you shoplifted a pair of probably crappy headphones, you are still my buddy.
bacteria: who the hell is deprived from Palm Pilots and headphones? This is coming from someone who makes his money from selling software.
The shop / auditors are deprived of the items they had lifted - they have a value to the owner, even if small.
I haven't downloaded any software I shouldn't have for literally years. So there!
Stick up for your friend, that's fine. I don't hang around with shoplifters, that is your choice. If I found out my best mate did that, I wouldn't hang around with him though.
To say if someone commited a minor offense you would severe all ties with them makes you sound incredibly snobby and uptight

Moneys always sucked that's its purpose. so careful kids how much of your disposable income you blow on this stuff. and a shout out to the working class, and the lower class who scrape what they can and make what they want, you kids are the real heroes on benheck.
I think the screen modding threads need me... Down with the big tired beasts, like chanting pigmes we will wait stabbing when we can at the monsters feet. Break its knees!! feed us and make room for more game, this tribe hunger for a better chase. remember life feeds on life!

They were a little less than equivelant models on Tiger Direct, and they were all beat-up floor models. Some had missing keys, one had a crack in the screen, and they were all covered in tape and/or tape residue. Not worth the $400 they were asking.HotDog-Cart wrote:How much were those floor model laptops, bic? Were they nice?
On Friday, the only one they had left was a battered Compaq base model.
