zenith screens.
are there any differences between the psone and ps2 zenith screens? as far as internals go? it seems that i can get a ps2 one for cheaper. i'm making a snesp, and i can't find anyone who's used a ps2 screen for anything other than a portable ps2. it would work fine for the snes right? thanks.

Re: zenith screens.
I think the speakers and connector board are different. The screen itself and controller board are the same.
Re: zenith screens.
I think they are all the same. The company probably just changed the packaging on them to sell for specific consoles. I search on ebay and all I find when I search for psone or ps2 zenith screen is one that is listed for ps2 but in the auction details the packaging is an xbox model.
Re: zenith screens.
They're exactly the same inside. I have a zenith and opened it up, it looks exactly the same as the psone screen.

Re: zenith screens.
They are completely the same. When sony discontinued them, they sold a lot of the screens to zenith, and zenith just put them in a new case.
rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio! \m/
Re: zenith screens.
and they gave them friggen crappy buttons. They should have kept the purple +&- buttons, the look better than those gay ones...

Re: zenith screens.
There's nothing wrong with the buttons.
And I agree, they're exactly the same. There are minor differences when it comes to how they're attached, but if you neglect all extraneous circuitry and just use the main board it's a psone screen.
P.S. - First step when you get it, disconnect all that extra crap, it messed mine up when I had mine.

Re: zenith screens.
Zenith screens have five wires soldered to their respective spots directly on the back of the board. The power line has a separate voltage regulator of some sort that made everything screwey after I did the LED mod. Removing it, everything was fine.

Re: zenith screens.
cool to know. i wouldn't have known what was going on if that happened. thanks.

For those interested, that's what happened. Nos is there!
Looking back, what had gone wrong was this:
- I removed the original backlight and LED modded the screen.
- This caused less current to be drawn from the system
- This caused the smaller voltage-regulating board to output less current (and more voltage), which caused the problems.
In the end I just removed the board.

I don't feel that oldie goldie. Not compared to some members...many of which probably don't even come here anymore.
It's about time I go through a mid-mid-life crisis. I'm nearly 20 and have nothing named after me!
