Actually, it says intec on it, but nontheless, it is actually a hipgear screen. sort of like the ps1/zenith screens.

Really sad news.


Today, I spent a few hours relocating the cart slot. I used the method LOB used on his super boy. Not one wire was touchinmg another. I finlly finish. I'm all excited to hook it up to the TV to play some mario. I put the game in, and........nothing. All that happened was the tv had a few random green zig-zagging lines appear on the screen for a split second when I turned the system on. I tried the game and others time and time again, but nothing different happened. I am certain I fried the retro duo. I don't know how, but I did.


I think I'll just quit on this. Maybe I'll just use the case and screen for an atari portable. Original hardware ( not flashback 2) ataris are pretty sturdy, right?

sigh, but I don't even own any atari games, let alone ever played a 2600.

Maybe an nes portable. I have nes games, But that would mean more cartridge slot pins to relocate.


Or, maybe I will just buy an FC twin to save money aqnd continue this project.

Check your connections. Someone else had a similar problem, and it turned out to be a cold solder joint.

Id say check your connections as well. Your dealing with a hand full of pins, wouldn't be hard to get a couple switched. If you want, you could always jam the cart connector back onto the mobo and heat the pins up then see if it works. Id do that as a last resort though, you'd have to do all that desoldering again.

Hmm, there may be a curse on the method - I fried my first Retro Duo the exact same way. I never found what caused it. It worked perfectly fine, I did the relocation using some solid core wire I stripped bare, and then it didn't work any more. I checked all my connections, and yet still no solution. I had to order a second one before my portable was complete. I was very annoyed. The second Retro Duo worked perfectly on the first try using the exact same cartridge relocation method as the first.

are you using the original retro duo snes cart slot? something went wrong with mine when i desoldered it. i tried relocating it about 3 times to no avail for the handyduo, then tried a different snes cart slot. that one worked on the first try. i know a few others have had problems with the retro duo's snes cart slot too... so it may not be the retro duo itself, it may just be the cart slot.

I am using the cart slot off of a real snes.

And underclocked, I did not get any pins mixed up. If I did, I would know.
