Who's watching the Watchmen?
Film came out today and all I can say is that it's a great watch for anyone who's read the graphic novel. May be a tad hard at times for people who haven't read it but its your own fault and I strongly advise you to read it.

Catching a 7:45 showing this evening. Hope I can stay awake (I know it will be good, but it's 3 hours long and I'm really tired.)

Just got back from it.
It was good. Nice and dark, just how I like it.

Re: Whose watching the Watchmen?
I'm currently borrowing the graphic novel from a friend of mine (I'll probably read it tonight or maybe tomorrow). I hope to catch the movie at some point soon after that.

Re: Whose watching the Watchmen?
I saw it on IMAX today with some former coworkers, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I was surprised at how accurate it stayed to the comics for the most part. The ending was rather different, which was kind of annoying, but it had the same overall effect. Obviously the whole newsstand and Black Scourge parts were taken out, which removed from the depth of the movie, and other things that were implied or hinted at in the comics were spelled out plain as day, which made sense.
It was definitely one of the more graphic movies I've seen recently, between the violence and sexual content. I'm not saying that was good or bad, but if I had a kid under 15 or 16, they wouldn't be seeing this movie. Which made me surprised at how many parents were there with their youngish kids (early-mid teens). But hey, I guess they think it's fine.
But anyway, like I said, I enjoyed it. It had good action, a good story, and was well-translated from the comics. I'd recommend others see it if they've either read the comics or think they would enjoy a superhero mystery story with graphic content.

from what I've heard, people who read the comic loved the movie while those who hadn't were unimpressed.

Fits me to a T. Hadn't read it; was shocked and confused.grossaffe wrote:from what I've heard, people who read the comic loved the movie while those who hadn't were unimpressed.

I think it'd be rather difficult to shoehorn the original ending into the film. Most the backstory to that is done in the texty bits inbetween the chapters and would have been hard to replicate for the big screen. Just imagine how confisued non-fans would have been to see the proper ending happenBlack Six wrote:I was surprised at how accurate it stayed to the comics for the most part. Exactly. And that's why I didn't mind too much. I think the original ending might have made people laugh or otherwise not understand the point that was trying to be made.DK wrote:I think it'd be rather difficult to shoehorn the original ending into the film. I haven't read the comic, and I understood it perfectly. I guess I have a lot of experience with vague art flicks.

I've got two complaints:
-Nixon's nose looks like a friggin tumor
-TOO MUCH DICK!!!
I haven't read the graphic novel, understood the movie, and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Oh yeah, Nixon didn't look like Nixon at all. Hated that part.
